In-Flight Beauty Essentials

Hello lovelies!

We are well into the holiday swing, and with those holidays I generally have to fly all over kingdom come, visiting this family member and that one. Hopping on and off flights, running through airports, waking up at the crack of dawn to catch a flight or being forced to take an overnight, aka one on which I am guaranteed not to sleep. Between all of that crazy travel, how on earth do you find the time (or the carry-on room) to make sure you’re looking bright and bushy-tailed for all of those family photos Aunt June will inevitably post all over Facebook?

I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS tuck my refresh kit with my beauty essentials into my carry-on before a flight. Then, about 30 minutes before landing, I excuse myself to that itty-bitty bathroom and make myself look human again.

Want to know my 13 MUST HAVES for travel? Take a look at the list below!

Toiletry Essentials

SPF Moisturizer-All that recirculated air turns your precious skin drier than the Sahara desert. I use my ultimate multitasking moisturizer to rehydrate my skin, protect it against UV rays, and prep my face for makeup all in one go. If you find a gluten-free tinted moisturizer, even better!

Dry Shampoo- I don’t know about you, but all the stress of travel turns my hair flat and lifeless. A quick spritz of a lightweight dry shampoo reinvigorates my hair back to its healthy, bouncy self.

Mini Hairbrush- My hair can get CRAZY when confined to those uncomfortable seats. I love, love, love my mini hairbrush; it not only smooths and detangles my ratty hair, but also acts as a scalp stimulant to simply brush the stress away.

Deodorant- You’ve been sitting in a plane for how long? Need I say more? Freshen up those pits, hun! (P.S. I spring for the full-sized deo, the ‘space’ you save with a mini is not worth the increased price-to-product ratio.)

Travel Toothbrush and Toothpaste- There is NOTHING I hate more than a stale, dry mouth. Brushing my teeth for a few minutes always makes me feel 1,000x better. Just make sure you get a toothbrush cover; ziplocks just don’t cut it for me.

Makeup Essentials

Yellow Concealer- I don’t know about you, but I can almost NEVER sleep on a plane. Say buh-bye to dark circles with a few swipes of yellow concealer!

Naked Glow and Chocolate Rose Eyeshadow- These are my go-to, put-them-everywhere shadows. Not only to they subtly brighten and define your eyes (almost as well as a good cup of coffee), but I also use them to get a natural contour on the go. A bit of Naked Glow along your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, and just along your cupid’s bow is perfect for adding a bit of festive radiance, while a few controlled sweeps of Chocolate Rose (my personal perfect cool brown) helps to tone up those areas that need a little help.

Lipstick- Hydrating with a bit of color, I either go for a full-coverage lip or, more often than not, dab a bit along the center of my lips and blend out for a more natural look.

Mascara- Frame those eyes, baby! Especially as a blonde, my eyelashes usually are next to invisible unless I darken them up a bit. I always go for black, but brown works as well if you want a more natural color to make your eyes pop. (Pssstt....we have our very own water resistant ultra black mascara coming soon! Eeeekk!! Keep an eye out for the launch in just a few weeks!)

Concealer Brush and Dual Ended Brow Brush- The only tools I ever need for my quick makeup pick-me-up. I use the concealer brush for everything from concealer (duh) to eyeshadow to gentle contour, and the Dual Ended Brow Brush not only tames my eyebrows but also doubles as an eyeliner brush in a pinch.

And there you have it! Now, I pack a slightly more comprehensive kit in my suitcase for that annual Christmas bash my cousins throw every year. However, when they pick me up at the airport, we get right to the festivities rather than racing home to get presentable.

What are your go-to travel essentials? What can't you live without? What on earth do you want to want to read about next?? Let me know by commenting on this article or emailing my bestie Allyson at allyson@beauteminerals.com
